Tap a piece, then tap its destination

Deck of Depths is a turn-based roguelike deckbuilder: you descend eight floors of a monster-filled dungeon armed only with a small deck of cards, and every fight is a puzzle you solve with the hand you draw. Each turn you get three energy ⚡ and a fresh hand. Click or tap a card to play it and spend its energy cost. Attack cards (red) deal damage; when there is more than one enemy the game asks you to click the one you want to hit, and cards like Cleave or Sunder strike every foe at once. Skill cards (blue) build up Block 🛡️ (armour that soaks the next hits and resets at the start of your turn) or draw extra cards, gain energy and cleanse debuffs. Power cards (purple) stay in play for the whole battle, granting lasting bonuses like Strength, extra card draw or block every turn. Every enemy shows its intent above its head: a sword and a number means it will attack for that much, a shield means it is defending, an arrow means it is buffing, so you always know whether to race it down or turtle behind Block. Stack up Poison 🧪 and Burn 🔥 to melt tanky foes, apply Vulnerable 💥 to make them take extra damage, or Weak 🌫️ to soften their hits. When you have played what you can, press End Turn and the enemies act on the intents they telegraphed. Win a fight and you pick one of three reward cards to add to your deck, so your deck grows and sharpens as you climb. Your health carries between battles and only refills at the campfires between floors, so spend it wisely: reach and defeat the boss on floor eight to conquer the depths, and if your health ever hits zero the run is over. Your score is the number of floors you clear, and your deepest run goes on the leaderboard.

Deck of Depths: frequently asked questions

How does the deck and card system work in Deck of Depths?

You start with a small deck and draw a new hand every turn. Each card costs energy to play: Attacks deal damage, Skills give you Block or card draw, and Powers grant lasting bonuses for the fight. Played cards go to your discard pile, and when your draw pile runs out the discard is shuffled back in. After every victory you choose one of three new cards to add, so your deck steadily becomes stronger and more focused as you descend.

What are enemy intents and Block?

Before you end your turn, every enemy telegraphs its next move as an intent icon above its head: a sword with a number shows exactly how much it will attack for, a shield means it is raising its own Block, and an arrow means it is buffing itself. Block is temporary armour you build with Skill cards: it absorbs incoming damage but disappears at the start of your next turn, so you gain just enough to survive the intent you can see coming.

How do status effects like Poison, Burn and Vulnerable work?

Poison and Burn are damage-over-time: an afflicted creature loses health equal to its stacks at the end of its turn, ignoring Block, and the stacks tick down by one. Vulnerable makes a target take 50% more attack damage, while Weak makes its attacks 25% weaker. Strength adds to every attack and Dexterity adds to every Block you gain. Combining these (poisoning a tanky enemy, or making a boss Vulnerable before a big hit) is the heart of the strategy.

Is Deck of Depths free, and does it work on mobile?

Yes. Deck of Depths runs free in your browser with no download and no sign-up, and it is built for touch as well as mouse: tap a card to play it and tap an enemy to target it.
