How to play Fox and Hounds
You are the fox, alone at the bottom against four hounds along the top. Everyone moves one square diagonally on the dark squares only — but the hounds may move forward (downward) only, while the fox may move any diagonal, forward or back. Nobody captures. Click the fox, then a highlighted square to move. Win by slipping the fox past the line to the hounds' home edge; you lose if the hounds surround you so you have no move left. The hounds play a strong game — a lapse in their wall is your chance. Prefer the other side? Tap the button to play the hounds against a fox AI.

How do the fox and hounds move?
Both move one square diagonally on the dark squares. The four hounds can only advance forward (toward the fox's edge); the fox may step in any diagonal direction, forward or backward. There are no captures.
How do you win Fox and Hounds?
As the fox, break through the line of hounds and reach their starting edge. The hounds win if they trap the fox in a spot where it has no legal move. If the hounds ever get stuck themselves, the fox wins.
Can the fox really beat the hounds?
With flawless play the hounds have a forced win, so Hard is a real test — but the hounds must keep an unbroken wall. On Easy and Medium, and against any slip in their formation, a clever fox slips through.
Can I play the hounds instead?
Yes. Tap the side button to switch to playing the hounds against a fox controlled by the computer, and tap it again to go back to being the fox.
