How to play Monte Carlo

Twenty-five cards are dealt into a five-by-five grid. Tap one card, then tap a neighbour of the same rank — horizontally, vertically or diagonally, so every one of the eight surrounding cells counts — to remove the pair. After each removal the remaining cards slide up in reading order to close the gaps, and fresh cards are dealt from the stock into the empty cells to refill the grid. Keep pairing until the whole 52-card deck is cleared. If no touching pair is left and the stock is empty, the game is stuck.

Monte Carlo — frequently asked questions

Which pairs can I remove?

Any two cards of equal rank that are directly next to each other — left, right, up, down, or on a diagonal. Suit does not matter, only the rank, and the two cards must be touching before the grid consolidates.

What happens after I remove a pair?

The surviving cards shuffle forward to fill the holes, reading left to right and top to bottom, and the stock deals new cards into the freed spaces to keep the grid full. This often brings fresh cards next to each other, opening up new matches.

How do I win, and how is the score kept?

You win by pairing away the entire deck so the grid empties with the stock exhausted. Your score is the number of cards you have removed, up to 52, and your best is saved. Not every deal can be fully cleared.

Is Monte Carlo free to play?

Can I play Monte Carlo unblocked?
