How to play Kurodoko

The numbers sit in white cells. Each number tells you how many white cells it can see in the four straight-line directions — up, down, left and right — counting itself and stopping at the first shaded cell or the edge. Click empty cells to shade them so every clue is exactly satisfied. Two rules bind the whole board: no two shaded cells may touch side by side, and all the white cells must stay joined in a single connected group. Switch the mode button to drop a dot on cells you have deduced must stay white, and use Hint if you get stuck. Solve it in as little time as you can.

Kurodoko — frequently asked questions

What does a clue number mean?

It is the total count of white cells visible from that clue in a straight line across all four orthogonal directions, including the clue cell itself. The count in each direction stops at the first shaded cell or the grid edge.

Can shaded cells touch each other?

No. No two shaded cells may be orthogonally adjacent. They can, however, touch diagonally.

Do the white cells have to connect?

Yes. Every white (unshaded) cell must belong to one single orthogonally-connected region — the white area can never be split into separate pieces.

Is there always one solution?

Yes. Every Kurodoko level here has been solver-verified to have exactly one valid solution, so pure logic always gets you there — no guessing required.

Is Kurodoko free to play?

Yes — Kurodoko is completely free on Inkplay, with no download, no sign-up, and no in-game purchases. Open the page and play instantly on desktop or mobile.

Can I play Kurodoko unblocked?

Yes. Kurodoko runs entirely in your browser with no download, install, or plugins, so it loads instantly and keeps working even on school or work networks where bigger game sites get blocked.
