How to play Mahjong

Tiles are stacked in a layered pattern. A tile is “free” when nothing sits on top of it and either its left or right edge is open. Click two free tiles bearing the same symbol to remove the pair. Work the stack down and clear every tile — the faster you finish, the better your time.

Mahjong — frequently asked questions

Which tiles can I match?

Only free tiles — those with no tile on top and an open left or right side.

Can I get stuck?

If no free pairs remain you can restart; good players plan which pairs to take first to keep options open.
